Week 41 Preview

Tonight sees the second legs of the Robert Black and Silver Cup semi finals. The pick of the ties tonight is undoubtedly the Hustlers trip to the Greenhills with the tie evenly poised at 6-6. The Hustlers had the game in their grasp last week, only for a team selection error resulting in a forfeited match allowed the Greenhills to level the score after the first leg. Greenhills will now feel confident of getting a result against Kelly’s men with home advantage, however if the Hustlers turn up at full strength they will still be favourites for the tie.
In the other semi final the Entertainers have a commanding 8-4 lead over the Hotshots, however the visiting team will feel they are still in this tie after fighting back from 7-0 down in the first leg. The Hotshots have caused the Entertainers major problems all season, and if they turn up with the same kind of fight and desire, this tie could go right to the wire.

In the Silver Cup, the Westwood trail 8-4 against the Tower, and will need to reproduce some of the magic from the last round which saw them gain two fantastic victories over the Aces.
In the other fixture, the Eagles lead the Also Rans 8-4, and with home advantage, they will look to try and finish this tie off early, although the Also Rans will not let the opportunity to reach their first ever final go without a fight.

Full fixtures as follows:

Semi Final 2nd Leg
Hotshots - Entertainers
Greenhills - Hustlers

Silver Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg

Eagles - Also Rans

Week 40 Preview

Tonight sees the first leg of the Robert Black Cup take place with three time winners the Hotshots taking on this year’s League Cup winners the Entertainers. The Hotshots have been on a good run of sorts lately and will be looking for a big performance as they look to get their hands on their first major silverware since 2004. The Entertainers will have a score to settle with the Hotshots however, as back to back draws against the Hotshots saw their league title challenge fade at the split.
In the other semi final, the Hustlers face Greenhills who are desperate to go one step further after tasting a final in the League Cup, however they will need to up their game since the last meeting when Stevie Kelly's men ran away with a 13-1 victory in the league.

In the Silver Cup, Westwood take on the Tower after their impressive quarter final results against the Whitehills Aces, and the Also Rans host the Eagles with both teams keen on making their first ever final.

Full fixtures as follows:

Semi Final 1st Leg
Entertainers - Hotshots
Hustlers - Greenhills

Silver Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Westwood - Tower
Also Rans - Eagles

Week 38 Preview

With the league, league cup and consolation cup already decided (congratulations to the Hustlers, Entertainers and Murray respectively), we now move into the last two cup competitions of the season to see who will lift the prestigious Robert Black Cup, and the newly created Silver Cup.

The tie of the round has to go to newly crowned League Cup champions the Entertainers who host the Flukesters. The two teams have faced each other three times this season already, with the Entertainers coming out on top in all three matches, including a triumph in the League Cup semi final. The Flukesters will be going all out in trying to retain their trophy from last year and put a stop to the slide against the 'tainers.
It's always a fiery affair when the Hustlers travel to play the Top Guns, and tonight should be no different. Andy Mason's men have always raised their game when facing the Hustlers, however Stevie Kelly’s men have been a force this season, dropping only seven points on their way to a historic fifth title win.
The Murray host Greenhills in what many view as their derby match and should be another closely contested match. The Murray are fresh off the back of their consolation cup win, while the agony of losing a final frame playoff in the League Cup final will still haunt the Greenhills. However, the 'hills have had an amazing season so far, only just being denied third place in the league and reaching one of the major cup finals, and they will look to go one better this time in the Robert Black Cup.
Completing the quarter final line up is the Hotshots-Club 2000. The Club have been the surprise package this year reaching the top 8 and proving they can hang with the bigger teams, while the Hotshots poor start to the season cost them any chance of breaking into the top three and mounting a serious title challenge.

In the Silver Cup, Westwood need just four frames to see off Centre One and book their place in the quarter finals proper,
while the tie of the round pits the Tower against the team they piped in the league on the last day, the Greenhills Shooters.
After finishing in their highest ever position in the league, the Also Rans will hope to cause another upset when they host the Hunters, while the Sharpshooters take the journey to Eglinton to face off against the Eagles.

Top Guns - Hustlers

Silver Cup Prelim 2nd Leg
